We were beyond honored to have joined Mayor Katie Wilson in January in her signing of an executive order directing the Seattle Department of Transportation to install bus lanes on Denny Way. Her executive order directs SDOT to install bus lane on Denny, with the minimum to meet the order being an eastbound bus lane from 5th Ave to Fairview Ave.

We have had very productive discussions with SDOT and are very excited about the final design, which is expected to be shared soon. SDOT is planning to install a shorter bus lane on Denny west of 2nd Ave before the FIFA World Cup, with a more extensive bus lane for the executive order coming late this year or early next year.

You can find the full text of the executive order here.

Transit riders have been forced to sit through traffic on Seattle’s slowest and least reliable bus for decades. Finally we have a mayor willing to prioritize mobility and the climate to improve our transit system and give Seattleites the freedom of mobility they deserve. Roll out the red carpet!
